Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer Review

Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer- £7.49

I bought the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in Shade 51 a few weeks ago. As much as I love the famous Collection Lasting Perfection I wanted a change and as I was so impressed with the Healthy Mix Serum I decided to give this a go. For almost double the price of the collection concealer I had high expectations.

The coverage is light build able to medium. It covers my beauty spot ( I refuse to say mole!) well in the above picture but it took a lot of concealer. For me this isn't enough coverage because I get a lot of red angry spots. It's definitely more suited to people with good skin or only a slight bit of redness. One of the selling points is "anti-fatigue" but once again there is no way near enough coverage for my under eye luggage. On the plus side I really like the applicator as it is much more hygienic then a doe foot. It does have good lasting power and even built up it doesn't look at all cakey. You can see the colour matches me well but that is with build up tan lotion on, believe it or not! I know a lot of pale beauties can get away with Bourjois's lightest shades but I am ridiculously pale.

I do think this is a good concealer but unfortunately it just isn't right for me. I will be going back to the trusty Collection concealer and I don't think I will ever betray it again!

Nars Deep Throat Blush

Recently I've been really getting into blush. I used to change up the blush I wore every day but not since I purchased Nars Deep Throat for an extortionate £21. I actually have to force myself to wear a different blush occasionally. The reason I love this blush is, despite the interesting name, it is so pretty. The colour is a surprisingly sheer pinky coral with some gold glitter running through it. At first I was a little put off by the poor colour pay off but it actually makes the blush really build-able so you have the option of going for a more natural look. On the cheeks it gives such a pretty flush of pink and the gold glitter means it really brightens up your whole face. Perfect for the healthy summer look! After wanting it for almost a year I am so happy I finally bit the bullet and got it. It's my absolute favourite blush and I wouldn't want to be without it.

YSL Glossy Stain: Rose Vinyl

 

 

On the lips and stain after 6 hours

Nearly two months a go I was lucky enough to win an amazing give away from Anna whose blog is On The Dressing Table. She was giving away a YSL Glossy Stain of the winners choice. I couldn't believe it when Anna tweeted me to say I had won! 

It took me a while to choose what colour to get because I wanted something bright but still wearable. I didn't go for red because until I get my teeth whitened I can't wear it. So after a lot of googling and swatching in store I opted for Rose Vinyl. It is quite a bright pink but at the same time still easy to wear. Normally I can't stand lip gloss but this doesn't have a hint of sticky-ness and the gloss lasts as long as 3-4 hours if not more. The stain it leaves behind isn't amazing so I imagine it works better with darker colours. I need to be more brave!

The shape of the wand makes application easy peasy although the consistency is quite watery so it can be a little tricky if you have too much on the wand. The only thing I really hate is the floral granny smell. It is so strong when you apply it and it smells far too artificial. Why YSL? Why?

Overall though I absolutely love this and I wear it all the time.  It's definitely a luxury and I am very grateful to Anna for giving it to me. Her blog is fab for reviews of high end luxury products but be warned- it's dangerous for your bank balance!

Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion Mascara Review

Today I'm going to review my current mascara- Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion. My lovely Mum got me this for Christmas from America before I realized Covergirl and Max Factor mascaras are the same. Stupid Megan! Anyway the Lash Blast Fusion promises to deliver length and volume. In the close up picture you can see how tiny the plastic wand bristles are which makes it really easy to grip the tiniest lashes. I can even use it on my tiny barely there bottom eyelashes. One coat of this isn't too impressive but the great thing is you can layer it up with no clumping. In the shopping channel style before and after pictures below you can see the difference an extra layer or two makes.

You may notice a slight bald patch. There was an unfortunate incident with a set of eyelash curlers a few months back and they still haven't recovered. 

As you can see it makes my pathetic excuse of eyelashes look much more noticeable and the results are so much better than other mascaras I have tried. The formulation isn't one of those really 'wet' ones that smudges everywhere. During a lovely cold I discovered you can even sneeze straight after applying it and not end up with panda eyes. Throughout the day it doesn't smudge or budge on my bottom or top lashes even though I have very watery eyes but this means it can be quite difficult to take off.

The true test is would I repurchase it? Well I'm not really sure. There are so many different mascaras I want to try and so little time.

Bright Here Bright Now Review

I've had Soap and Glory Bright Here Bright Now for a good few months but it's only recently I've discovered how amazing it is. It's one of those products that takes a while to get you used to but when you do it's amazing. Bright Here Bright Now is an instant radiance energy balm that can be used in place of a moisturiser or mixed in with a foundation. If you have oily skin then you should properly steer clear 'cause this is all about the bright dewy finish. Think Mac Strobe Cream but golden and you're on track.

                                       

I have tried using this as a moisturiser and whilst it does help brighten up tired skin the effects aren't too noticeable. For me it isn't moisturising enough during winter but in Summer time it will be perfect. It makes my skin feel super soft but as I'm only seventeen I can't comment on if it did firm my face.

The best way to use this is by mixing it in with foundation. It instantly makes a dull matte foundation have a healthy dewy finish. For example Estee Lauder Double Wear is a heavy matte foundation but when mixed in with Bright Here Bright Now it becomes a creamy full coverage dewy foundation. Perfect for people who like to mix between matte and dewy foundation but can't afford lots of different foundations. It has completely given my double wear a new lease of life and I now wear it so much more. It also stops the foundation sticking to dry patches and instantly brightens up tired skin. No one has to know how little sleep you had the night before. As for mixing the energy balm with a already dewy foundations I wasn't so in love. Mixed with the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum it was far too dewy for my taste but some people may like that.

I absolutely love this product. At only £10.50 it is worth it because it has revamped old foundations so I don't have to by more. Soap and Glory skin care is yet to let me down!

Flawless By Nadia Mineral Blush Review

Flawless By Nadia Mineral Blush in Dusk- £14*  

 This blush is a mineral blush from a small  British company called Flawless By Nadia. To be honest I didn't have high expectations of it but oh my gosh it is amazing. The colour is so pigmented and creamy it blends well. But best of all, look at that colour! The swatch does no justice to show the pigmentation. It's bright pink and packed full of glitter, call me a kid but pink and glitter make up makes me happy. On the cheeks the glitter looks beautiful and so glowy to the point I don't even need highlight and trust me, I love a bit of highlight.

Mineral blushes. Controversial? I like to think so. The blush is by no means perfect. The packaging is plastic so it doesn't feel very luxurious but it doesn't look tacky. All loose mineral products are messy and I wish it had a turn screw top like Bare Minerals products do. I found the best thing to do is handle it with care and not remove the sticker completely from the top. Although I may or may not have covered my favourite black jeans in pink glitter like a nursery kid.

The benefits are so worth putting up with the cons though. The colour is stunning and definitely one of my favourite blushes. It has a beautiful silky texture too. Next time I want a new blush I will definitely be straight on the Flawless by Nadia website. All products are hand made in the UK, completley natural and  cruelty free which is amazing. I'm so excited about this brand and cannot wait to try new products!

S&G You Won't Believe Your Eyes Serum Review

I've been on the hunt for a new eye cream for a while now so when I saw this in a Soap and Glory gift set I was excited to give it a try. In general I love Soap and Glory skincare and this was no exception.

When I first opened the lid I was surprised to see the applicator. It does look pretty scary! However it works amazingly well. The metal balls feel cool and refreshing in the morning which really helps to make me feel more awake. It feels so soothing and surprisingly gentle to apply. A little squeeze tube makes a tiny bit of product come onto the balls which is all you need. After rolling it onto the eye it does need to be patted in slightly. You should always use your ring finger because the eye area is very delicate and your ring finger is the weakest. The consistency of the  product  is very thin because it is a serum rather than a cream which is personally what I prefer. My under eyes have never felt so plump and soft! It is hard to say if it does brighten dark circles because the darkness depends on the amount of sleep I had the night before. If you're on the hunt for a new eye cream that hydrates, plumps and awakens tired eyes I highly recommend this. I prefer it to the samples of the Benefit and Balance Me eye creams that I used to love.

Nivea Express Hydration Primer Review

When it first came out there was a massive hype about the Nivea Express Hydration Primer in the blogging sphere. Conveniently my moisturiser ran out at the same time so I picked it up instead of a normal moisturiser and after a month of use I have pretty mixed feelings about it.

In case you don't know this is basically a primer and moisturiser in one. It is fantastic for using in the morning when you are in a rush because it absorbs instantly. I love the fact I don't have to wait for moisturiser to sink in because I'm always running late. It's very moisturising and leaves a nice smooth base for make up but I can't tell if it makes my make up last longer. However it has a thick gel texture so when it is first applied to the face and rubbed in it feels very greasy but this doesn't last for too long. It still makes the application pretty unpleasant in my opinion.

The fact it is a tub rather than a tube makes it much easier to get the exact amount out and avoid waste. But the glass tub is very heavy which means it isn't great for travel. It seems a bit daft because surely a two in one products is meant to be perfect for saving space when travelling! It does only costs £5 which is cheap especially considering you're saving money not buying a primer too.

Overall I think this product is okay but it does have disadvantages. When it runs out I don't think I will repurchase it mainly because it feels so greasy when I first put it on. I really want to love it but its not quite there yet Nivea!

Firmoo Sunglasses Review

 I have to admit I had never even heard of Firmoo glasses before but after a bit of research I discovered they are a big online glasses shop. Currently Firmoo have free (!!!) glasses and sunglasses available. I was sent the glasses free of charge to review them but all views are completely honest. I could never lie to you!

The sunglasses arrived about 10 days after order which is pretty good considering they came all the way from China! I know that my order was rushed for the purpose of this review so there is a possibility that it could take longer for other customers. I'm not a fan of the cheap plastic case it came in but the glasses sleeve looks and feels more expensive. I'd have no shame in wiping it out my bag.

 The actual sunglasses are lovely. They cost $40 normally but are pair from the free glasses range for new customers. The colour is gorgeous and the anchor style detail really finishes the over all look.  I was impressed that you have to fill in the distance between your pupils to ensure correct fit. As with buying anything online there is the risk of it not suiting you but to help this you can virtually try on the glasses by uploading a picture onto the site. However I found in real life they looked extremely different on. The sunglasses are reasonably comfortable to wear although I'll have to wait for a holiday to be able to get proper use out of them!

At the moment Firmoo have a range of glasses that you can get for free including prescription glasses and sunglasses.All you have to pay for is the postage and packaging. This is great value considering the glasses normally cost up to $40. Christmas is quickly approaching so a pair of prescription glasses or sunglasses would make a great present. Review: Lush Grease Lightning

I've been using this for a few months now and I thought it's about time I blog about it. Before I picked this up I didn't actually have a product that specifically targeted spots in my skin care routine. The Lush Grease Lightning has an hygienic pump on the top that squirts out a clear gel which I apply specifically to the spots.It is quite difficult to get a small amount of so unfortunately there ends up being a bit of waste. I do this in the morning and evening after moisturising. Surprisingly it doesn't dry out my skin or cause flakiness. The next day any spots are dramatically reduced to small 'lumps' that can be easily covered with make up. Continued use doesn't make all spots completely disappear but they reduce them a lot. Lets face it, there will properly never be a product that completely gets rid of all teenage spots over night! The best thing about this product is it doesn't have that alcohol smell that other spot products do because it is alcohol free. It is only £6 from Lush and it should last a long time so I'm happy!

Review: Lush Soak And Float Shampoo

I never used to be a huge fan of Lush but recently I've been really liking their  skin care so I thought I'd give their shampoo a go. My scalp, like my skin, is very sensitive to a lot of products so I decided to pick up the Soak and Float shampoo. It claims to help calm an itchy, flaking scalp and balance it out. After a few weeks I noticed that my scalp was not sore any more and any flaking was dramatically reduced. I've tried a lot of shampoos and nothing has worked like this! Plus it makes my hair so soft and silky to the touch. I've been using it for a month now and as you can see in the picture there is still loads left. Great value for money! The only downside is the smell. I can't begin to describe this, you'll have to go into a shop and give it a whiff for yourself. It's such a strong unpleasant smell so I have to keep it in the tin to stop it stinking the bathroom out. Luckily the smell doesn't last on the hair so it's worth putting up with for the benefits!

 I definitely recommend you try a Lush shampoo bar whether its this one or one of the many others in the range that's more suited to your hair type.
